Happy weekend, friends! Allie here. I hope you have something really lovely planned. We’re hoping to make some progress on dismantling the old kitchen, hitting a swimming hole, and relaxing from a long week.
I’ve done posts like these before, but it’s been a while. I love reading these random, things-I’m-loving or interested in type of posts. Enjoy!
Ovenly’s secretly vegan chocolate chip cookies. I love baking and found out about a year ago that I’m lactose intolerant. Because of that I’ve been avoiding baking, the thought of subpar treats is too much to bear. But I’m really excited to be dipping my toe into the world of dairy-free-but-still-delicious things and this one really knocked it out of the park! I made these last weekend and Xan and I ate the entire batch. My favorite version was cooked for 14 minutes, scooped with an ice cream size scoop with the tops pressed down a little and no freezing.
The most beautiful candlestick holder.
While we were in San Francisco last month we made a stop at Interior Define. I’m thinking sometime in the next year or so we’ll probably replace our couch and I wanted to test out theirs. Spoiler: I loved them! My favorites are the Sloan for it’s style and comfort and the Charly for the double-wide chaise! Good thing we don’t need one right away because I’m going to be thinking about this decision for a while. I was also really impressed with all the customizable options like fabric, legs, cushion type, extra long chaise, and more.
As we’re gearing up to demo the old kitchen and convert it into a guest space I’m constantly thinking about the bed option. We were initially thinking something like this. But, it’s really expensive and doesn’t offer much when it’s not pulled out. But, it is a queen, which is a huge plus because the room is tiny. The other option I’ve been considering is what my friend Stella did in her nursery - a daybed that converts to a king size bed. That’s great because we can use it as a sofa when we don’t have guests. However, when pulled out a king will leave very little walking room and because of how the mattresses are oriented one person would be stuck on the inside, which could be problematic if you need to get up in the middle of the night. I like this one and Ikea makes a version as well.
The work of this jewelry designer and metal worker. The earrings are to die for, if my ears were pierced I would definitely have some of those already. And I really like this monstera leaf.
I watched this documentary last week and it was SO GOOD. It’s a little hard to watch, thinking about all of the women that were affected and didn’t feel like they could speak up or weren’t believed when they did. But I highly recommend it. If you watch it and are looking for more this podcast about the scandal is also really well done.
Crate and Barrel and CB2 have been putting out some really great stuff lately. Every catalog I get is dog eared on pretty much every other page. I’m especially loving this, this, this, and this.
The bed I’m currently obsessed with.
Jenni’s Barnhouse - it is giving me SO much inspiration at the moment. Her living room makeover is so. good. I can barely handle it!
A new to me blogger, Chrissy of Harlowe James. I’m loving her style and the Northern California vibes make me very nostalgic.
I know we’re in the hottest part of the summer, but I’m thinking ahead to fall and am on an all-out search for a new rain jacket. I have a lot of requirements: I want something that is black, chic (as chic as a raincoat can be anyway), long (at least mid-thigh), insulated, and waterproof (not water resistant). I’ve order this one, this one, and this one. But I don’t know if any are the one. Do any of you have suggestions??
