Sofa // Dark Blue Pillows // Light Blue Pillows // Lamps // Side Tables // Coffee Table // Chairs // Rectangle Pillow
It’s Thursday, you know what that means! It’s time for a 2017 One Room Challenge update!
Last week I shared the before photos of the room and some general plans. And, as promised I have the mood board I’m using as a jumping off point. Plus, some material and fabric ideas.
2017 One Room Challenge: Fabrics and Materials
I’m actually going to start with the materials. The clients are keeping the sofa as well as the chair with the lower back from the before photos. There are actually two of those chairs and we’re going to get them recovered. So, far we’ve decided on a large Persian rug, probably with some blues and oranges and then some kind of neutral fabric for the chairs. Most of the color will probably come from the rug and the accessories leaving the furniture a more classic palette that can could blend into several different environments. I like doing that because it gives the clients freedom to change things in the future without having to make the big investments of furniture all over again. This is a great option when you don’t feel like you know your style very well. It takes the pressure off of redecorating because it’s easier to switch it up if you change your mind.
I’m thinking some kind of wooden coffee table and am unsure about the side tables. Overall I’m planning on using lots of texture to help the space feel cozier. I want texture on anything I can get it on! Plus, I want something large scale to go on the wall behind the couch. Maybe a set of prints? Maybe a picture ledge with an eclectic mix of art? That’s still up in the air.
2017 One Room Challenge: Mood Board
You can see in the mood board below what I’m thinking for texture, colors and design. I’m really enjoying playing with materials in this rather than a ton of color. Using contrasting elements to layer the space and get that warm, cozy feeling. I can’t wait to see it all start to come to life.
Next week I’m hoping to share a few purchases and major decisions. Stay tuned!
