As you know, Xan and I were on vacation last week with his family. We went to Temecula, California for the wedding of a close family friend and then stayed for vacation. We rented a house in the area which served as our home base and then did some traveling, lots of relaxing, and spending time together from there.

Comfy, Chic Tennis Shoes
When you live in a walking city footwear matters a lot. But, I’ve never been one to sacrifice style for function. Up until now I’ve been running around the city in boots with a wooden sole, pointy-toed flats that’s squeeze my toes, or shoes that I know give me blisters – even after being broken in. Lately my feet have been pretty sore and I’ve decided it might be time to try and get on board with the tennis shoe trend.

A few weeks ago Xan and I felt like getting out in the city and trying something new. For a while we had been talking about trying one of the City Guides walking tours. They are free, guided tours around different areas of the city each with a specific theme. We’d heard great things about them and thought it might be a good way to learn a bit about the history of San Francisco and try something we’d never done.

I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again. Xan and I love our new apartment. We love it for countless reasons we’re discovering all the time. Another one we can add to the list is its proximity to the beach. Ocean Beach to be exact. It’s a quick and quiet train ride away and when you get there you truly feel like you’re in a little beach town. With delightfully sleepy shops, yoga studios, and eateries all around.
