Design Crush: Pastel Aesthetic

Okay, has the weather been amazing where you are? It’s been warm and sunny here with a few rain showers mixed in and it’s been so perfect. That’s also got me thinking about fresh, new color palettes for the changing days. Generally I don’t go crazy with seasonal decorating. Because I’m always very slow and intentional about bringing things into my house I usually wind up with colors from all seasons. It’s just inevitable that there are usually trends in what you’re buying even in elements as small as tone and shade. But, I think this is a good thing. It ends up making your design more well-rounded and layered. If you go on a shopping spree and buy everything for your house all at once it could end up feeling a little one note because there’s only so much variety in what’s available at that particular time. But, I do enjoy doing a few small things to lighten up the house during this time of the year like putting away the heavy blankets and coats, switching out the throw on the couch, and some general cleaning and organizing. This makes everything feel fresher and really ready for the warmer days. I also believe that a few strategically placed items can make a big difference in taking your décor from winter to spring. And, right now, I think pastels are the very best way to do that. Nothing says spring like soft pinks, baby blues, and light lavenders. In the past they’ve looked a little cheesy. A little too much like your Easter basket exploded everywhere leaving pastel pieces in its wake. But, at the moment there are so many beautiful pastel pieces out there. From gorgeous prints to light and cozy throws. Check out all my favorites!
