Rugs are a tricky thing. They’re often one of the biggest pieces in the room so it can feel like there’s a lot riding on getting it right. But, once you do it makes all the difference. One of my favorite sources is Rugs USA (this not sponsored, I just really like their rugs). We’ve gotten several from them over the years and we get a ton of compliments on the two we have now. The best part is that they have huge sales during pretty much every holiday and you can get some great deals. I have a hard time spending a ton of money on a rug because it gets walked on, spilled on, and just generally takes a lot of wear and tear. I like getting rugs that are a bit less expensive so I can replace them without any guilt when they’re not quite as fresh anymore. Since Friday was St. Patrick’s Day Rugs USA is having one of their sales this weekend so I linked a few of my favorites below.
Buying rugs online can be a little stressful because they’re one of those things that can benefit a lot from being seen in person. They have a pretty good Instagram account with lots of tags of their rugs “in the wild,” so definitely check that out. And also look carefully at all the photos provided, especially the profile shots. This will give you a good idea of how thick the rug will be. Our grey one is a super thick wool and looks really luxurious. I won’t lie to you, when we bought it we spent SO LONG (like a mind-numbing amount of time) deciding between several rugs that looked basically the same. In the end I can’t remember why we went with this one (probably a little dumb luck), but I’m glad we did. It looks so good in the living room and when we put it out I think we both felt really fancy (ha!). We got an 8’x10’ which is by far the biggest rug we’d ever bought and I think that’s another reason that it looks so good. It’s big enough to be firmly anchored by our couch and two chairs and doesn’t look like we scrimping by.
