On our most recent drive back to San Francisco from LA we made a stop at the Madonna Inn. It’s this kitschy, whimsical hotel in San Luis Obispo (which is nestled in the beautiful hills of California’s Central Coast.)
We stopped for lunch and exploring and honestly after that were ready to check-in! Unfortunately, we had plans for the next morning to go to Sonoma with a friend otherwise we would have made the full pit stop. Even though we weren’t able to stay the night we got to explore all the common areas and it was so cool! It’s got an old steakhouse vibe but multiplied by 10 and with tons of color added. I can’t even begin to properly describe it. You’ll have to check out the photos…and stop and stay the night if you’re ever in the area – I promise you won’t regret it.
When we got back I was telling my Mom all about it and she knew exactly what I was talking about because she and my Dad stayed there before I was born. They went on a recommendation from my Grandparents who stayed there and told them it was a must see. So, now it appears it’s a family tradition to stay. After we left Xan and I immediately put it our list of places to visit soon. But, then we ended moving a few short weeks later. I guess this just means we have a great reason to go back a visit - we’ve got to keep the tradition alive!
