Hi there, friends! Happy weekend! Here’s hoping that whatever you celebrate (or don’t celebrate) that you at least get a little time off this week and can cozy up at home and do something relaxing. 

We celebrate Christmas around here and I thought it would be fun to share our decorations this year. I like decorations that are a bit more classic, but have some kind of funky edge. And I generally think less is more this time of year. 

I’ll start with the outside of the house. This is the second year we’ve added Christmas lights to the first story of the house. Along the roof are icicle lights and on the banister and columns are regular ol’ string lights. I also put up a wreath on the front door. I love natural green wreath (and have even been known to make my own out of scraps of garland) with a pop of red. I got some faux berries years ago (seriously, probably 8 years ago) and I clip a few off each year and add it to my wreath. These would work perfectly. 

Moving inside, we have a Christmas tree in the living room. It’s about 7 feet tall and every year it ends up being a little wonky. But the character it adds is really starting to grow on me. I love a classic white light and this year decided to layer mini lights with some bigger bulbs. It’s a fun variation and adds a little extra sparkle. Early in our relationship Xan started the tradition of giving me an ornament every year at Christmas. For a while our tree was quite sparse. Last year we both got a batch of childhood ornaments from our parents. So, the tree has a lot more on it now! I love to add some kind of garland and this year went with the sparkly silver stuff - I think I ordered it on amazon last year. I had a little left over so I added it to the banister. The TV won’t be staying where it is permanently, but for now we couldn’t put the stocking on the mantle, so those are hung on the storage cabinet I got from my Grandfather.
