Hi friends! Today I’m so excited to bring you another installment in a series where I give you a peek inside other people’s homes, because what’s better than that? I can’t be the only one who loves driving by a house and getting a peek at the inside, right? Well, today you get to the whole thing with tour of a little boy nursery.

This house belongs to my oldest friend (throwing it all the way back to second grade!). She and her husband bought a 1950’s ranch house a couple years ago and have been fixing it up ever since. I hope one day I’ll get to show you the rest of the house because they did an amazing job with the remodel. But, today we’re looking at the nursery!

Gray and Yellow Nursery

I love that she chose an unexpected boy color palette of yellow and gray, breaking the mold a bit. I think it could work really as a neutral room too, for parents who don’t want to know the gender. The bold and graphic patterns feel extra baby boy friendly, and the white accents bring a fresh element to the room. While the shag rug, linen curtains, furry blanket, and plush stuffed animals add some texture, making the room feel layered and collected. I love how the medium-dark hardwoods and floating shelves give the room a warm and cozy feel even among the gray tones. And the sentimental touches that fill the shelves are a sweet touch. As a ranch house built at the height of the midcentury movement the slight mod touches feel like a nod to the house’s history, but also bring an on-trend feel. And how about those adorable baby animal prints? They add some extra whimsy and fun to the room, which is always welcome in a nursery!
