Ok, so not only is it Monday, but it’s Monday of the first full week of the year. So, to help ease your re-entry blues I thought it would be the perfect time to share this beautiful bathroom makeover. It’s a peek inside a real home and the before and afters of this space are incredible. But, the best part is that it didn’t require any major renovations. It was a small bathroom makeover on a budget and it made a huge impact! Everything the homeowners did to for this bathroom is completely doable on a small budget, with a little time and hard work.

Small Bathroom Makeover Before and After

Let’s start with the before pictures. This house was built in the 60’s and was probably redecorated sometime in the 80s or 90s and stayed that way until the current homeowners bought it a couple years ago. They’ve been slowly updating it and the bathroom was their most recent project. I mean, just check out that wall paper, the vanity lighting, and old curtains 🙈 I know they’re glad to see it go.

To update the space the homeowners:

1. Removed the wallpaper and painted the room a fresh shade of white.
2. Removed the old medicine cabinet and added open shelves made of natural wood.
3. Removed the mirror and vanity light combo and updated it with a new mirror and more modern lighting.
4. Replaced those oh-so-lovely ruffle top curtains of the 90s.
5. Replaced the toilet paper holder with a sculptural, black, wire one.
6. Updated all outlet covers.

See, I told you! No major renovations, truly nothing you couldn’t do at home. But, this project is a testament to what a little paint and focused design changes and do to a space. And to me, a perfect example of why you should never live with space you don’t love. So often we see the beautifully curated designs on Pinterest and Instagram of rooms that look amazing, but got that way through a gut renovation and we feel there’s no way to take something like this and make it any better without tile, an extra large shower, and a new vanity, the list goes on. It can feel discouraging and that’s why I love this before and after so much. It’s a reminder that you can make huge, impactful, and meaningful changes without the huge renovation if it’s not in the budget for you.
