Kitchen Design Ideas and a Mini-Update
Happy Friday, friend! Since I know I’m wiped out from the week and I’m guessing maybe you are too, I thought I’d share a little eye candy to help you make it through the day.
You see, we’re about 6 weeks into living at the new house. Overall it’s going really well. Settling in just takes time and that’s fine. We feel more at home every day. However, the one thing I’m not sure will ever get better with time is the kitchen. It’s SO SMALL. I’m talking shoebox. We have a whopping one set of cabinets, a handful of drawers, and the rest is open shelving. The problem with those open shelves in a small kitchen is that whenever you cook a thin layer of grease coats everything. And I mean everything. And that’s getting old. But, we’re still a little ways away from renovating. Both because we’d like to save up a little more (I always forget until I move just how much money you spend in the first few months) and because we still have a lot of different ideas about just what to do and we’d like to narrow things down a little before making any changes.
Kitchen Design Ideas: Inspiration
Right now my favorite kitchen design idea is moving it one room over to the office. Then it will be open to the dining room, which would be so nice. And maybe we could add an island, which I’m dying for. I love all the uninterrupted space they provide for everything from a place to put appetizers during a party to rolling out dough for a baking project. I also have so many ideas for colors and finishes. I’m clearly going to have to do some editing before we make any final decisions. But, because we’re in the very beginning planning phase I want to collect as much inspiration as I can. So that’s what you have here. Any and everything that’s resonated with me lately. It’s not cohesive at all, but there’s at least something in every picture that I love. And why keep that all to myself? Just click on any photo to be taken directly to the source.
What are your favorite kitchen design ideas right now? Mine are the aforementioned island, a pantry, and a large deep sink.
