Supper Club Idea: Pasta Night
I’ve talked about pasta night before, but that was actually one of our later dinners. I wanted to share these snaps from an earlier evening where we made a dish that still may be the most talked about of them all. The ricotta raviolo. For those who don’t know (count me in that camp before this dinner) raviolo is a large ravioli that has the insanely delicious addition of a runny egg yolk in the middle. If you think too hard about it it’ll make your brain hurt. But, with eight people in one room who enjoying taking on new kitchen adventures (one being a culinary student) you have just the right combination of ambition, skill, and ignorance to give it a try.
Supper Club: It's Not Only About the Cooking
Even though the food that night was delicious, looking back at these photos that’s not the thing that is the most compelling. What I’m reminded of when I look at them is one of the things I’m going to miss the very most about San Francisco. The people and the special things you can do when you’re that city. I’m not at all saying that you can’t have amazingly special moments anywhere in the world. But, something about being in a city with so many young and creative people drives you to push your boundaries and try as many new things as possible. In a very contradictory way that’s also one of the things I’m relieved to have left behind. It can be exhausting to keep up. But, for those three and a half years that we were caught up in it, we got back a whirlwind of memories with some really special people.
