Ocean Beach date
I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again. Xan and I love our new apartment. We love it for countless reasons we’re discovering all the time. Another one we can add to the list is its proximity to the beach. Ocean Beach to be exact. It’s a quick and quiet train ride away and when you get there you truly feel like you’re in a little beach town. With delightfully sleepy shops, yoga studios, and eateries all around.
We went last weekend and made a morning of it. We stopped for coffee and toast at Trouble. The cinnamon sugar toast is out of this world. Seriously, I cannot express how delicious it is. They also have peanut butter toast which is what I tried this time – peanut butter is another of my favorites. It’s really delicious too, and I like that it has a little protein in it, which keeps me from crashing later in the day. But, if you’re up for indulgence, definitely go the way of the cinnamon-sugar.
With our coffee and toast in hand we walked the 3 blocks it took to get to the ocean. Just as we got to the dunes we polished off our toast, slipped off our shoes and went walking barefoot through the sand. In a lot of ways San Francisco is such a classic big city. There’s so much hustle and bustle, so many people, most of whom are trying their hardest to be at or discover the next trendy thing that will have people waiting in line for hours to try. But, near the ocean in the very outer-rim of the Outer Sunset it’s different. It’s laid-back, people are friendlier and more relaxed, nobody’s racing around, and you’re surrounded by one of nature’s most beautiful offerings. It was a morning I needed and it’s something I can see a lot more of in the future.
