Okay, this will probably be my last post on Mexico. I know I've been talking about it a loooot so I'll stop soon. Probably. But before I can even pretend to stop I have to share all of the amazing textiles we came across while we were there.

I've been to Mexico a couple times before and have lived in California for a few years so I thought I knew what to expect when it came to the textiles. But I was totally taken by surprise with how inspired I was by them. The bold colors and patterns combined with quirky themes were great. If you don't know me, I'm kind of obsessed with skeletons. In fact we got this beautiful patina-ed one on our honeymoon that I've used as a Christmas tree ornament for the past three years. Before finally finding it a permanent spot on the wall because I felt like it never truly got enough time to shine. All of this to say, I love a quirky design element

The textiles had so much depth, there were colors, textures, and patterns. It was really pretty amazing. We even snagged a few to take home with us. One thing we didn't get was tile, obviously in our apartment we can't put any in. But, boy did I love them all. They would make such a beautiful accent in a bathroom or other small area of the house. If we owned ours I would definitely have been scheming on how we could get them back here with us. 

I love getting outside of my bubble and being reminded of how many unique and interesting things are out there. Don't get me wrong I love San Francisco and it's pretty quirky itself. But, it's also easy to get caught in a frame of reference where everything looks so similar. Beautiful, yes, but kind homogenous as well. Mexico was such a treat for me in that way. It reminded me of what else is out there. Of how to think bigger. Of how to explore outside the box. And brought me such fresh, new energy. I've been super inspired and motivated since I've been back. I feel like I've been bumped out of a design rut and it feels really good.
